Louise Barkhuus

Copenhagen University

Louise Barkhuus is a professor at the IT University of Copenhagen and currently a visiting professor at Rutgers University, in New Jersey, USA. Her research spans several areas of human-computer interaction, particularly in the area of location-based services and mobile applications. Her most recent work looks at how youth negotiate privacy and sharing of personal dynamic information with friends and family; with the emergence of generative AI, personal information can easily be used to create and conceptualize new uses of personal applications, potentially compromising people’s perception of privacy, as well as their actual security. Barkhuus studies these privacy issues through qualitative methods, using prototypes and sample AI to study perception of sharing privacy. Barkhuus has published in top venues such as CHI, ToCHI, CSCW Journal and other ACM affiliated venues.
